COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Even commercial photography should tell a story. Whether it's a luxury hotel without people or a project, I do my very best to get under the skin of what my client is trying to depict in order to better reach the desired audience.

Let me give you an example:

In the summer of 2018, I was asked by a luxury resort - Naturdorf Oberkühnreit - to shoot their grounds and chalets. It's a very beautiful place in a secluded but not remote location, and has been voted 'Best Almdorf' three times. On my first visit, I didn't take my camera. I walked around, sat on bench overlooking the natural bathing lake, watched guests come and go and just let the feel of it come to me. Over the next five weeks, I went back at various times of day and in different weather conditions to capture the mood and the essence of what Naturdorf Oberkühnreit is and how it should be presented to potential guests. I waited two weeks for the water lilies on the bathing lake to flower and I watched the apples ripen. At the end, I presented my client with almost a hundred individually edited images depicting not only the obvious but the little things we walk past every day. Needless to say, the client was delighted with my somewhat unusual approach and I very much hope we'll be working together again. I don't charge my client by the hour for work of this kind because it's finished when I'm satisfied I've done what I came to do. Such a project is more than just a job: It's a journey, it's a story and it doesn't matter what that story is. If it's worth something to YOU, then it's a story worth telling. If you'd like to talk to me about telling your story, Email me anytime.
